Punta Arenas

In few words, we would like to introduce you to one of the last untouched areas on the earth: Chilean Patagonia, a beautiful area where adventures and discoveries are still common. This southernmost tip of Chile breaks up into thousands of small islands, finally tapering off into the Drake Sea. It is a region of wooded mountains and deep valleyspierced by channels and fjords and of island with impenetrable vegetation. 

      

Punta Arenas, the capital of the Magellan’s region, sits alongside the Strait of Magellan’s at southern latitude of approximately 54º south. J. Byron discovered this location on the Brunswick Peninsula in the 17th. Century and named it “Punta Arenosa” (Sandy Point). The city of Punta Arenas was founded on December 18th in 1848, grew into a center forcommerce, culture and society that spread its influence over the entire region, Punta Arenas is currently the axis of Chilean and Argentinean Patagonia. .
