La Serena - Central Coast of Chile

 » Other region
La Serena, the capital of the 4th region of Coquimbo, founded in 1544 by the Spaniard Juan Bohón, is the second oldest city in Chile. It is full of stunning colonial architecture, monuments of national significance and churches.

Archaecological Museum:
impressive collection of pieces from the Diaguita culture.

Cathedral: historical building that dates from 1844, built in the neoclassic style.

La Recova Market: municipal market in the colonial style and most typical place of La Serena. You will find all kinds of handicrafts made of alpaca, the special “combarbalita stone” and a lot more…

After an interesting sightseeing tour through the center, you should have a relaxing stop at the Plaza de Armas – sitting under palm trees and watching the Chilean city life!

The very long beach of La Serena reaches until the poorer “sister town” of Coquimbo and invites you to have long walks and sunbaths. Enjoy the fresh water of the Pacific Ocean and wonderful sunsets.
The beautiful city and friendly people of La Serena look forward to WELCOME YOU!
